Silvio Pagliani is Co-Founder and CEO of Immobiliare.it, Italy’s leading real estate portal. An engineer by training, he co-founded the company in 2005 and has spent more than 20 years building and scaling digital marketplaces, with a particular focus on technology, product and international expansion.
Over the years, he has co-founded several digital businesses, including Facile.it, one of Italy’s leading online comparison platforms for insurance, mortgages, utilities and other household services, and has been involved in the growth of HousingAnywhere, a European rental marketplace, and Treatwell, a leading European beauty booking platform.
One Platform, Many Markets: From Separate Codebases to a Platform Built to Scale
In 2008, Immobiliare.it decided to launch in Greece, while it was still fighting Casa.it for leadership at home. The practical solution was to fork its software, launch Spiti24 as a local version of Immobiliare.it and let the two platforms evolve independently. More than a decade later, the launch of Indomio.es in Spain in 2019 started a very different approach: building one platform to serve multiple markets. In this session, co-founder and CEO Silvio Pagliani walks through that journey with Simon Baker. He'll explain how a common platform allows products, features and AI capabilities to be developed once and deployed across countries, while giving smaller local portals access to a breadth and depth of technology they could not develop with their own resources.
